PGW #14- Locks of Love

I don’t need to say anything about this.  This little girl says it all.

Peace, Good Will for 12/12/12 is about Sanam Patel.  Many blessings to you, sweetheart!

From the Knoxville News Sentinel:

Many girls wouldn’t have the courage to chop 12 inches of hair off in one sitting, but 9-year-old Sanam Patel isn’t like many girls.

The fourth-grader decided she wanted to commemorate Wednesday’s 12/12/12 date by cutting and donating 12 inches of her hair to Locks of Love in hopes of inspiring at least 12 other people to do the same.

“It’s really special, because some kids who have cancer, they have to take medicine that makes their hair fall out,” Sanam said. “They make wigs out of (donated hair), and they look really real, and they give it to the kids that their hair falls out. … In school, some people might tease them, and they want to feel normal and like they fit in.”

Sanam has donated her hair to Locks of Love three times before, but never has she given so much at one time. She said she wants to start donating every two years, which is about as long as it takes for her to grow her hair out.

Sanam’s mother, Anita Patel, said the date 12/12/12 was actually picked by accident because it was the only day everyone in her busy family was free.

Sanam had planned to have just 10 inches cut off as a celebration of her upcoming 10th birthday, but when she found out her hair appointment fell on the unique date, she decided to cut off 2 more inches.
